Movement. Expression. Style.
Blueback promotes the
movement towards a better,
brighter future for all local &
independent efforts. We strive for
unlimited self-expression, and of
course, the sickest style.
It starts from the ground up.
Steven Harwood began skating about five years ago and has since used his natural talent to develop into a consistent, passionate rider. He'll skare anywhere - park, street, parking lot, you name it. However, Steve's favourite place to shred is at Pioneer Park, his local skatepark in Nanaimo, BC.
Steve goes out to tear it up regardless of the weather or how many decks he's managed to mangle in his past few sessions. He's all about skate, not much can slow him down. So, if you're lookin' for a guy who's down to earch and down to go out and ride, Steve's your man.

Taking up the sport of flatland skimboarding a year or two later than a group of his close friends left Colin with a lot of work to do in order to be where he is now. C-Med is one of VI's best riders and he is getting better every sesh. His improvement is due greatly to his competitive attitude and to the skimditions at Blueback Beach and in Victoria. Medlar is bound to rip it up this season so keep your eyes open for media from this young shredder. Speaking, of media, click the YouTube button on the bottom of this page to see some flatland skim vids featuring the man himself, Colin Medlar.

"Nicely blends dry, witty humor with light drama and rather serious social insights into a heartfelt, intelligent story."
- The Independent Critic
"Absolutely a beautiful looking film... its entertaining, yet it puts its finger right on the pulse of young North America."
- Rogue Cinema
Generation Why
With a small budget, an untrained but passionate group of filmmakers bring to the screen an honest and perceptive look at a young generation's struggle to find themselves and their place in the world. Filled with winning performances, naturally insightful dialogue, and sharp digital photography, this is an energetic comedy whose unique and powerful story arc guarantees you'll have a lot to think about once it's done.

Primo Longboards are made by Riley Richters in Lantzville, BC. Riley builds the decks himself and completes each one with a touch of his own artwork. Each and every board is one of a kind.
Spencer Pickles Photography
"Through my photos I attempt to document the world with a fresh, island perspective and bring a touch of the sublime to the everyday. I shoot everything from sports (skimboarding, wakeboarding, rugby) to portraits to natural and urban landscapes. Also, I work pro bono."
- Spencer Pickles
Spickles' photos can be found on his photo blog and on his Facebookpage.
"For me, Mtb is all about fun, friends and keeping things fresh. I work hard on my videos and I hope the extra effort is noticeable. Most trails you'll see were built by me and my bros and that's what Blueback is all about too - getting rowdy with friends and looking good while doing it.
Get stoked."
- Scott Secco
"Hey! My name is Scott Secco and I make mountain bike videos. I've always been inspired by incredible scenery, bravery and creativity. I am passionate about bikes and I am dedicated to capturing this love to film. There is something special when everything comes together and a simple video transcends into an art form. I always strive to provide the most visually stunning and enjoyable edits possible."

TydleMag has been fueling the fire of flatland skimboarding for the past three years. The growth of the industry and sport as a whole has allowed riders, photographers and business owners to unite for a cause that was previously taken on independently. With the amount of new scenes arising and the innovation of the original scenes, there is no question that now is the time to step up and make the world aware of the skimboarding movement. Check out Tydle online at TydleMag.com and on Facebook.
"The only magazine dedicated to flatland skimboarding"
"I love warping my world with creative influence. I strive to find the extraordinary in ordinary situations. I strive to express someone's personality through a portrait. I strive to capture the perfect moment."

The Stillwater Project (Double DVD) is the brainchild of veteran flatland skimboarders Kyle Lynch (KYDA owner and former editor of Tydle Magazine), Dane Clark (KYDA) and Brian Kniveton (ISM) with the objective of showcasing the best flatland riders on the west coast to a worldwide audience. Over the 2010 season, both of these filmmakers will be documenting not only the sport and the culture that surrounds it but will also be working completely independent of one another. The goal being the creation of two completely different feature films, KYDA's Insufficient Funds and ISMs ITEM NUMBER NINE.

"The term 'flav' comes from our toques, most of which are long and sag in the back. Flav is what we call this extra long part of the toque." - The FLaV Crew
FLaV Boardingis a Vancouver Island based sports action clothing company that enjoys snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and everything in between. Flav clothing uses bright colours and unique designs.
"...Every time is different. The colours blend differently and letters take on different shapes. I'm always interested to see what's going to happen next. The feeling of accomplishment upon finishing a drawing or covering a canvas is wicked, especially if it turned out sick."
- Bryon Guenther
BG1 Art & Design
"I started this as doodles, never knowing that a pen or pencil would always be in my hand. Art is a way for me to let out my feelings. Now that I've been painting and drawing for a while, it's become kind of a competition against myself, I'm always trying to do better than the last time, and trying to think of new stuff to do for the next time as well.
